I was wondering if cell companies charge so much and have so many fees and such long contracts because they have to to make a fair profit and stay in business, or are they making tons of money off the high demand of cell phones. If they do need to charge so much, is it because of poor business practices or why is it?

If anyone has studied this or worked close enough with cell phone companies to give an educated answer, I’d sure like to know. Please provide sources and facts (not opinions please). Thanks.
I guess I should say I understand that they will charge what the market will bear and as long as we keep paying, they’ll keep charging high rates.

My question is, at their current spot, does anyone know if they are making large profits because they are taking advantage of the market, or if the invisible hand of the market has driven their charges as low as they currently can go with today’s technology and still stay in business?

im looking for a service that can provide a real-time exchange rate and also can send a text message to my cell phone when market hit my price.
im looking for a real-time alert service, it can provide a real-time currency exchange rate via a text message, like a Cell phone alert.

I dont know what the mobile phone company is; so any/all companies would be nice to know.
Also, what is the most expensive cost for a text message?
I need to know how much is costs for the person in England to receive (and how much is that roughly in american cents and also in english pences). I dont know the mobile company, so all companies would be good. What is the most expensive cost?

I have Cingular and I just added 1500 text-message feature to my plan.
I was wondering if I already have those 1500 text messages added to my bill already or will it be added on to the next cycle? Can I text now without having to pay .20 cents per text message?
